Father’s Day is just around the corner, and at Whitchurch Club, we’re making it extra special. On Sunday 15th June, we’re inviting all our members to bring their dads along for a laid-back afternoon with great drinks, friendly faces, and a well-deserved treat for the main man.
🎉 What’s Happening This Father’s Day at Whitchurch Club?
To show our appreciation for all the hard-working dads out there, Whitchurch Club is giving every dad their first drink free. Whether he’s a lager lover, a wine connoisseur, or enjoys something softer, the first one’s on us.

- đź•› We open from 12 noon on Sunday 15th June
- 🍺 Dads get their first drink free (limit of one per dad/customer)
- 👤 Offer available to members only – all dads must hold a valid Whitchurch Club membership
- đź“Ť Just bring your membership card and enjoy the day!
💡 A Brief History of Father’s Day
Father’s Day has a rich and heartwarming history. While Mother’s Day became popular in the early 20th century, Father’s Day took a little longer to catch on.
The modern celebration of Father’s Day began in the United States in 1910, when a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to honour her father, a Civil War veteran who raised six children alone. Inspired by Mother’s Day, she campaigned for a similar day for fathers. Over the years, the idea gained popularity, and in 1972, it was officially recognized as a national holiday in the U.S.
In the UK, families now celebrate Father’s Day each year on the third Sunday of June, using cards, gifts, and quality time to show gratitude for their dads, grandads, and father figures.
